Jeff Bridges is… THE DUDE from ‘The Big Lebowski’.

To my mind The Big Lebowski is one of the best Coen Brothers movies.  It has a great cast not to mention a dazzling soundtrack and the dream structures used in the film are exceptionally good.  This is my favorite one:

It is one of those movies that benefits from viewing on the big screen and I was lucky enough to see it at London’s best-loved open-air cinema at Somerset House.  On that particular evening it poured with rain.  We were provided with  see-through rain macs which made the whole audience look like a sea of ghosts.

The reference I depicted was from an online poster and print store called ‘Poster Chase’ and I used a black pen for the background, skin tone watercolor for the face and the rest is all crayon.  It was a quick draw and took me about 10 minutes in total.  I really enjoyed drawing him because he really is THE DUDE.

“Hey careful, man, there’s a beverage here!” ~ THE DUDE

Another great aspect to this movie is that you can play a very good drinking game (for those over 18) and it’s called ‘Shut the F*ck up Donny!’  Drink whenever John Goodman quotes this line.  It is much easier playing that game with this movie than it is with Goodfellas.

  1. Yay Tabs! Fun illustration & fun story!

And guess what? I FINALLY figured out how to do what you wanted: have the 1st video start at 1:54 instead of at the beginning! 🙂

When you want to embed a YouTube and just have it play, all you have to do is paste the “youtu.be” url on a line. I explain in detail here:

When you want to start some number of seconds in, instead of:

    You format it like this

    And… eureka! 🙂

  2. Oh Vanessa, I struggled so with that… but I am enjoying learning. I am so dumb! I thought that was what I was doing. I have now printed out your notes and will try it on another one another time.

I love how you use the word ‘snap’… Thank you so much again!! Really enjoying iRez and you guys are lovely.
